According to European Regulation VO (EU) 2015/1998, a 'Known Supplier of Airport Supplies' is a supplier whose procedures comply with common security rules and standards, allowing the delivery of airport supplies to security restricted areas. Airport supplies include not only items intended for sale within security restricted areas but also items that can be provided or used for specific activities or purposes. The 'Known Supplier of Airport Supplies' is not approved by the Federal Aviation Authority (Luftfahrt-Bundesamt); rather, they are designated by the airport operator.

Why become a Known Supplier (for airport supplies)?​

Goods and products from an approved Known Supplier of Airport Supplies can be delivered directly to airports without additional screening, provided the secure supply chain is maintained. This ensures that your goods are processed and distributed quickly and cost-effectively. Goods and products from non-approved companies must undergo a full inspection before delivery. These security measures are not only time-consuming but often require significant technical effort. Additionally, extra costs are incurred for the inspection of goods. If you are delivering time-sensitive items (e.g., fresh food) or sensitive goods (e.g., sterile materials) that could be damaged or rendered unusable during inspection, it is essential to obtain the status of 'Known Supplier.'

Required training for Known Supplier:

• Training for security managers (in accordance with Chapter 11.2.5 of Regulation (EU) 2015/1998)

• General security awareness training (Chapter 11.2.7 of Regulation (EU) 2015/1998)

• Training of persons implementing security controls for air carrier mail and materials, in-flight supplies and airport supplies other than screening  (in accordance with Chapter 11.2.3.10 of Regulation (EU) 2015/1998)

• Training of persons implementing screening of air carrier mail and materials, in-flight supplies and airport supplies (in accordance with Chapter 11.2.3.3 of Regulation (EU) 2015/1998)
