Known consignor
A Known Consignor is a company that first enters goods and products as identifiable air cargo into the shipping process at its business location. This can be a manufacturing company or an intermediary. Any company can become a Known Consignor. The status of 'Known Consignor' is granted by the Federal Aviation Authority (Luftfahrtbundesamt) after the successful approval of the respective business location. The approval is always specific to the business location applied for and is valid for 5 years.
Why become a Known Consignor?
Goods and products from an approved Known Consignor can be transported in passenger aircraft and cargo-only aircraft without further screening, provided the secure supply chain is maintained. This ensures that you can ship your goods quickly and cost-effectively. Goods and products from non-approved companies must undergo a complete inspection before being loaded onto an aircraft. These inspection measures are not only time-consuming but often require significant technical effort. Additionally, there are extra costs associated with the inspection of goods. If you are shipping time-sensitive goods (such as food) or items that could become unusable during inspection (such as sterile packaging), it is essential to obtain the status of 'Known Consignor.'

The following training is required for Known Consignors:
